Welcome to our classroom!

Room 211 is truly "our classroom" because I firmly believe in equity and the truth that every single student must own their own spaces and learning experiences. Therefore, I promote social equity in our classroom everyday, and encourage my students to value the voice of each student around them while contributing positively to both school and community environments. I graduated from Texas A&M San Antonio, as part of the second class of students to walk from our beautiful southside campus! I am continuing my education at the University of Texas at San Antonio to earn a Masters in Literacy, and frequently share with my students both the benefits and challenges of going to school while working full time, so that they know what possibilites are available to them.

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"One of our greatest challenges as educators is being able to imbue in our students a sense of responsibility for challenges in our world." - Mark Phillips, educator
